While Shah Rukh Khan has been ruling Bollywood for nearly three decades, Kollywood star Ajith Kumar earned the title ‘Thala’ from audience for his box office power and larger-than-life image. While the duo have a unique style and charm, very few of you might know that SRK and Thala have shared screen space together. Do you remember? Well, let us answer that. It was Santosh Sivan’s magnum opus Asoka: The Great, which also featured Kareena Kapoor, Rahul Dev, Hrishita Bhatt, Johny Lever, Danny Denzongpa and others in key role. While SRK played the titular character, Thala Ajith portrayed the character of Susima Maurya, who was the elder-half brother of Asoka.
While the film was applauded for its cinematography, lavish scale and performances, it failed to create any magic at the box office and turned out to be a flop. Interestingly, this is the only Hindi film of Thala Ajith. Meanwhile, he will be next seen in Valimai, which also stars Huma Qureshi and RX 100 actor Kartikeya Gummakonda as the lead antagonist. The film marks the second collaboration between Thala Ajith, director H. Vinoth and producer Boney Kapoor after Nerkonda Paarvai, which was the official remake of Amitabh Bachchan, Taapsee Pannu, Angad Bedi and Kirti Kulhari starrer Pink.
While earlier, it was scheduled to release in Diwali this year, the reports suggest that it will now hit the screens summer 2021. The reports also suggest that it might have a pan-India release including its dubbed Hindi version. On the other hand, there are reports that Shah Rukh Khan might start the shooting War helmer Siddharth Anand’s untitled action-drama in October, which will be bankrolled under the banner of Yash Raj Films. The film will be announced on Yash Chopra’s birth anniversary, which is September 27.
