Amitabh Bachchan and Ayushmann Khurrana starrer Gulabo Sitabo released today on Amazon Prime Video and is garnering positive response from fans and netizens on social media. While it turned out to be a treat for the movie buffs, it will amaze you to know that the Badhaai Ho actor was offered the film at Ranveer Singh-Deepika Padukone’s wedding reception. Director Shoojit Sircar revealed that he was always the first choice for the film but he broke the news to him at #DeepVeer’s reception.

Talking Zoom Digital, director Shoojit Sircar said, “Yes, he (Ayushmann) was the first choice but before that we debated a lot. His casting was done later. First was Mr Bachchan’s casting and then I remember I think I broke the news to him, I remember it was….Deepika Padukone’s reception (laughs). So at that reception, I gave him the basic narration, I remember. And you know that’s when we agreed (to do the film). He was excited, he was jumping since then. So, I think we first bounced the idea to him at the their reception. Suddenly mere ko yaad aa raha hai. I think you are the first one I am telling this. So, that’s when I told him the idea.” The film marked the second collaboration between Ayushmann and Shoojit Sircar after Vicky Donor.

Talking about the reviews, our critic Russel D’Silva gave the film three stars and wrote, “Take Amitabh Bachchan and Ayushmann Khurrana out of Gulabo Sitabo, especially the former, and there’s precious little to hold your interest. Its OTT release seems more like a convenient quirk of fate to escape potential theatrical disappointment rather than a product of the times we live in. I’m going with 3/5 stars with 0.5 of that rating solely dedicated to the Big B’s performance.”
